Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" 2017, Sylvain Langoureau

Despite dedicating a significant amount of my life to Burgundy wines it never ceases to amaze me how many good producers I am unfamiliar with. I suppose with the average estate owning 10-12 hectares it is a full-time job to try wines from the top 200 wine-makers. I am very glad that I indulged my sense of curiosity and tried this beautiful wine from Sylvain Langoureau. Perfectly poised, this Saint-Aubin from a vineyard a couple of hundred metres up the hill from Le Montrachet has a mineral core wrapped with satsuma and pear fruit. Elegant without being too bony (i.e. not Kiera Knightley). An appetizingly fresh lemon finish. Really stylish with an indulgent layer of vanilla-infused cream.
