Echezeaux Grand Cru 1999, A F Gros

I always think that an Echezeaux comparison tasting would be the best to compare wine-making skill and wine styles. There are many producers, Echezeaux is typically approachable and the terroir is rather consistent. This bottle was generously shared at an annual dinner at Tate Britain. A nose of cherry, plum, violets, baked orange. Charming and still vibrant aromas. Lovely strawberry, raspberry, cherry fruit on the palate with good density. Fully evolved tannins and dipping into a dry finish. An elegant lady close to retirement!
