Auxey-Duresses 2017, Alain Gras

Anyone who has visited the domaine, perched on the top of the Saint-Romain hill, would have to agree they have a wonderful view down the valley. Perhaps this lofty position helps the wine-maker keep his head clear and make stellar decisions in the cellar. This 2017 Auxey-Duresses was really excellent. The sort of thrill one can only get from more "lowly" villages where expectations are moderate. A lovely satsuma and lemon nose combines freshness and ripeness. On the palate this is balanced, elegant, fresh and delicate. Lemon tart flavour with a touch of sweet spice like cinnamon. Just lovely. Another triumph from Alain Gras.
