Morey Saint Denis "Monts Luisants" 2012, Michel Magnien

Red Burgundy should be in full song when it hits 7 years in the bottle and this cork was popped as a meandering investigation of 2012s. A rich red colour announces a wine with aromas of black cherries, roasted fruit notes, ripe cassis and blackberry. It is deep and open. The ripe flavours continue on the palate with a rich black cherry flavour, solid tannins, meaty texture with a touch of rye bread. Mouth filling rather than showing much finesse. More a solid chum than an interesting interlocutor. Reflects the hot summer of 2012 and the concentration due to low yields. Scores 75/100.
