Vosne-Romanée “La Combe Brûlée” 2009, Bruno Clavelier

Fourth wine tasted blind, this had a deep purple colour which was consistent and misleadingly youthful. First nose of blackberry, pencil lead, licorice and globe artichoke. Some weird and wonderful aromas. Wine-marinaded bay leaf, orange rind and cooked portobello mushroom. (This had more raspberry and blackberry fruit on the nose the next day). Medium acidity, fairly chewy tannins, balanced with the blackberry and blueberry fruit. Possibly the fruit is starting to decline but it’s still a great wine now. Very well made. Scores 85/100.
