Volnay 1er Cru “Clos des Chênes” 2007, Bitouzet-Prieur

Third wine in a blind tasting, this wine had a full, deep red colour which showed significant variation at the rim. Raspberry, strawberry fruit on the nose which is still fresh and draws the imbiber into the glass for sniff after sniff. Hints of sweet spices like cinnamon and vanilla appear. Perfectly integrated on the palate with sumptuous berry fruit and finesse. The age is starting to show through in the length of the wine and soft, declining tannins. Super example of what could be achieved in the cool 2007 vintage. Scores 88/100.
