Savigny-Lès-Beaune “Les Montchenvoy” 2015, Patrick Javillier

Savigny is better known for its red wines than its whites and I imagine that three-quarters of vineyards are planted to pinot. So what to make of a Savigny chardonnay? This 2015 Savigny Blanc has a medium to light silver-yellow colour. A nose of lemon tart, tangerine, mellow oak and yellow apple. It’s a light bouquet which requires swirling and deep sniffing to ascertain. Balanced, apple and orange fruit on the palate, a pleasant green gauge flavour. Slightly pithy finish. This is an appetising wine, very well crafted but not flashy. Scores 76-79/100. No need to keep longer.
