Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Clos des Guettes” 2012, A-F Gros

Continuing my perusal of 2012s I reached into my stock of wines from A-F Gros... one of the most consistent producers of high quality pinot noir on the Côte d’Or and also one of the finest portfolios from Pommard to Savigny and Chambolle. This 1er Cru Savigny 2012 has a medium-to-thick plum colour with a brown suede rim. Plum, cherry, aniseed, clove, strawberry and ripe cherry fruit on the nose. Possibly a crumble of walnut dust. Definitely showing a mature face. Good balance on the palate with plum, cherry and raspberry flavours. Very enjoyable. Scores 79-82/100.
