Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Perrières” 2013, Jean-Louis Chavy
It is impossible not to like the humble, unassuming and talented man behind this wine. The Chavy family are one of the best known in Puligny. There is also Domaine Alain Chavy. In contrast to the 2013 Puligny from François Carillon this 1er Cru from Jean-Louis Chavy does not require a Master’s degree in the philosophy of ideas to be appreciated. There is an immediately appealing bouquet of lemon sponge cake, pear, a touch of green melon. This is very fruit driven with a soupçon of cream from the malolactic fermentation. Lovely rich palate of fruits ranging from lemon to clementine to yellow apple. Could age for another three years but is fantastic now. Scores 85-88/100.
