Beaune 1er Cru “Champs-Pimont” 2011, Jacques Prieur

This domaine is headquartered in Meursault and has an incredible range of grands crus and premiers crus in both chardonnay and pinot noir vineyards. This Beaune 1er Cru from 2011, a vintage with a very warm spring and a cool damp summer, conceals its age with a consistent yellow silvery colour. No tint of orange or old manuscript! The first nose has that classic Beaune blanc note of asperges blanches. Reflecting its age there is butter, artichoke, leeks, custard, pistachio and oranges. I also noted fermented bananas but not sure what that means. Good balance, lemon, green melon, white peach. Round rather than long and impressive freshness. A wine with a real sense of quality handling in the vinification process. Scores 78-81/100.
