Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Fleurs des Coteaux” 2008, Domaine Matrot

This is one bottle from a collection of eight vintages that I purchased from the domaine in 2012 hoping to host a vertical tasting. Alas I never managed to arrange the tasting so these have been opened in series not in a v-wing of geese. This Saint-Aubin from the splendid 2008 vintage has a rich medium yellow colour erring in gold. Nice. Almost very nice. There is a strong waft of oak on the first nose. Then dried lemon, grated copper, rust and dried orange. Definitely a metallic note. Good citrus fruit on the palate but is overly dry. Kept too long but has held out fairly well.
