Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Maltroye” 2013, Jean-Noel Gagnard

This turned out to be a very good choice for Christmas lunch as it contrasted with the simple flavour of roast turkey and complimented the rich stuffings. Medium to rich yellow colour. Nice depth. A nose of marzipan, dried lemon, vanilla, minerality. Integrated on the palate. A really enjoyable palate of candied orange, yellow apple and apricot - a trademark flavour of Chassagne from ripe vintages. Good lift from the acidity given the rich texture. Citrus finish with a lattice work of minerality. What it lacks on the nose it makes up for in abundance on the palate. Glad we had six bottles!
