Eola-Amity Hills "Tongue 'N Cheek" Pinot Noir 2015, Lingua Franca

Second wine tasted blind chez les Simons in the Portola Valley. This pinot noir from the Eola-Amity Hills AVA in the Willamette Valley starts on an engaging, deep nose of vanilla and rye bread. There's a suggestion of roe deer leg in red currant jelly. Very advanced for a 2015! Rosemary, sweet and savoury, a hint of caramel and a touch of licorice. Impressive bouquet. This Eola-Amity Hills 2015 from the Lingua Franca winery, where Dominique Lafon from Meursault is a low intensity consultant, has chunky mature tannins which are balanced by ripe plum fruit. It's a savoury style with a dry finish. Thick, serious, suave and agreeable. Like George Clooney in his pomp. Scores 80-86/100 reflecting the significant potential upside from another three years in bottle. Given the very recent creation of this winery we were amazed at the quality of this 2015. Bravo.
