Sonoma Pinot Noir 2014, Flowers

Among the multitude of pinot noir producers in Sonoma, Flowers Vineyards is one that stands out due to the older age of its vines (originally planted in 1991) and the altitude of the vineyards. This Sonoma pinot noir has an elegant, fragrant nose of strawberry, raspberry and vanilla. It is soft and sweet. Evolves to nutella, cherry cake and sweet licorice. Rounded with medium minus acidity and appealing raspberry fruit. There is a nice minerality to this Sonoma pinot which blends well with a ripe blood orange flavour. A good pinot which achieves overall balance which can often be difficult in a wine region which is not ideally suited to pinot. Scores 76/100.
