Santenay "La Comme Dessus" 2008, Guy Amiot & Fils

This humble 2008 Santenay has a rich plummy colour with a clay rim. Definitely showing its age. There is aniseed, cooked orange, raspberry and red currant jelly. Classic pinot aromas. Medium to light bodied, this 2008 offers fresh red cherry and cranberry fruit, it is long, perfectly balanced, still on the fruit and wrapped with mature, softened tannins (which can be rustic in Santenay). A jolly good fresh finish and overall an excellent wine given the longevity. Bravo. Worth noting that this little-known producer includes Le Montrachet in his portfolio.
