Nuits-Saint-Georges "Aux Lavières" 2015, Jean Grivot

For Burgundy cognoscenti, Domaine Jean Grivot needs no introduction. This domaine is one of the benchmarks for NSG and also for the entire Côte de Nuits. Tasted blind, this NSG is a medium red ruby colour. Initial aromas of tangy cherry, raspberry, there is a touch of barnyard, bergamot, perfumed. Balanced, good structured tannins, will age well, very good length, saline and fresh. Whilst this doesn't come across as a dense, masculine NSG, it is a lovely wine. Reflecting the strong Jean Grivot brand it's not cheap at £55 but was widely enjoyed by the tasters. Scores 70/100.
