Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "Les Faconnières" 2015, Stephane Magnien

There are a quite a few branches of the Magnien family in Burgundy and particularly in Morey. I haven't tasted at the Domaine Stephane Magnien which is located in Morey. This wine won a lot of fans in the tasting group who were ploughing through twelve 2015 red Burgundies blind. Medium-to-dark plummy red. The colour suggests concentration. Stawberry, cherry and vanilla on the nose. Weighty fruit on the palate, ripe, cassis berry flavour, smooth, fine, velvety tannins. Gouleyant. This wine was much appreciated for its generosity and sheer pleasure. Scores 77/100. This was voted by the group as one of the top wines to buy, £45 from Lay & Wheeler. Photo shows Morey vineyards as one travels south into the embrace of Chambolle.
