Chambolle-Musigny 2015, Taupenot-Merme

The Imbiber's Guide team tasted at this domaine in the summer of 2015 and we enjoyed the wines yet they seemed rather heavy, glossy and over-extracted. However, the day was long and the weather was warm. I threw this bottle into the blind-tasting of 12 red Burgundies to get a more objective assessment. And we were rewarded. This Chambolle 2015 from Domaine Taupenot-Merme has a medium ruby, bright and reflective red colour. A vibrant nose of raspberry, blood orange, bergamot, oregano, complex and convincing. Imbibed this is a superb wine with real verve. Fresh, raspberry, cranberry, linear, quartz, fine, feminine and long. Elegant. Scores 76/100 and good value at £42 retail from Lay & Wheeler.
