Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2015, Marchand-Tawse

The tenth wine tasted in a flight of twelve 2015 red Burgundies, this grand cru from Domaine Marchand-Tawse (which is effectively a Canadian-owned and run domaine) had a medium red ruby colour. Nothing remarkable. Perfumed, lovely, charming, sweet, rich and feminine on the nose. Flavours of demerera sugar, red plum, red cherry, chunky fruit. Really good ripe tannins. Distinguishes itself from the other wines through its concentration. Scores 85/100 which is decent for a grand cru but this wine didn't wow the assembled tasters. And at a price of £165 per bottle retail there was nobody rushing to make a purchase. What can you say eh?
