Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru “Au Closeau” 2010, Drouhin-Laroze

This 2010 red Burgundy has a light red colour which is obviously transparent. There is a barnyard nose, vanilla, raspberry. Very pleasant berry fruit on the nose. More feminine than masculine. Perfumed, strawberry and rose hip. Medium body, medium to low acidity, medium to low tannin. Balanced with good berry fruit. Drinking very well. Surprisingly soft and open. No Gevrey character!   The “Au Closeau” vineyard is bang in the middle of the village of Gevrey just below the Mazis Grand Cru. Which makes it hard to assess in a blind-tasting. Scores 70/100.
