Puligny-Montrachet 2016, Etienne Sauzet

On arriving at One Great George Street in Westminster for the annual Justerini & Brooks Burgundy tasting I made a beeline for Domaine Etienne Sauzet -- one of the benchmark producers for fine Puligny. This Puligny-Montrachet 2016 has a mineral, lemon nose, very classic. It is fresh, medium-bodied, intense and a touch fiery on the finish. Overall oozes quality. Scores 68-78/100. Only time will tell if this wine can gain some fruit weight after being in the bottle for a couple of years. Priced at £470 for a case of 12 bottles which is £49.60 per bottle after tax. A punchy price for a Puligny but still acceptable. This was one of the best white Burgundies in the the Justerini & Brooks portfolio both in terms of pure quality and value for money.
