Puligny-Montrachet 2016, Bachelet-Monnot

Tasted at the Justerini & Brooks annual en primeur Burgundy event this Puligny from the well-known Bachelet-Monnot domaine has a fairly closed nose of pear drops and a touch of volatile acidity. At this stage the wines should not be unduly criticized for what they offer on the nose given they have typically not yet been bottled. On the palate more classic Puligny characteristics come through such as pear and apple fruit, minerality. But it's a touch lean, the apple is very much green not yellow. There is a lack of attractive fruit on the palate. Scores 65-70/100. Available for £385 per case of 12 bottles in bond which is £41.10 per bottle retail. This is a more reasonable price for 2016.
