Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatières" 2016, Bachelet-Monnot

The Bachelet-Monnot wines from the 2016 vintage continued to move towards what one expects from a normal vintage the further we moved up the quality scale during the Justerini & Brooks en primeur tasting. This 2016 Puligny 1er Cru Folatières has a bright lemon and new oak nose. The lemon nose tilts towards lime and the pungency of a Meyer lemon (thought to be a cross between normal lemons and mandarin oranges). Acidity plus, but no more than that, good concentration, very Puligny, decent length, not marked by overly-angular minerality like other 2016 white Burgundies. It's a very good Puligny 1er Cru from a tricky year. Scores 74-78/100. This Puligny 1er Cru is £635 for a case of 12 bottles in bond which is £66.10 per bottle retail.
