Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Canet" 2016, Etienne Sauzet

A third wine from the Etienne Sauzet stable tasted at the Justerini & Brooks annual Burgundy tasting. This 1er Cru Champ Canet was significantly riper than the Puligny village and 1er Cru Les Referts. A floral nose combined with a pleasant white peach fruit aroma. On the palate fresh peach flavours combined with apple, pear and a hint of satsuma. The angular minerality of other 2016 white Burgundies has been masterfully combined with the citrus and yellow tree fruit. One of the stars of the tasting though priced at £990 for a case of 12 bottles in bond which is £91.60 retail. Scores 78-82/100 which is a high score at this stage for the 2016 vintage.
