Corton Grand Cru "Clos du Roi" 2016, de Montille

Corton is often one of the most foursquare, backward wines and this 2016 Corton Grand Cru from Domaine de Montille is a case in point. The nose is as closed as an acorn. The palate offers cherry, sour cherry, double plus acidity and a heat on the finish which is all rather reminiscent of young Barolo. This wine is unscorable. For 12 bottles in bond Messrs Justerini & Brooks will charge you £1,060 which is an eye-watering £118.60 per bottle.
