Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Cortons" 2016, Domaine Faiveley

Third wine tasted from the Domaine Faiveley stable at the annual Justerini & Brooks en primeur Burgundy tasting. This Corton Grand Cru 2016 is immediately pleasant (a rarity for the 2016 barrel samples), there is ripe forest fruit, a very enjoyable inhalatory experience. Rich, velvet textured, strawberry and raspberry fruit on the front palate. It's really superb. There is length, velvet, beautiful. A coronation of pinot berries. Scores 86-90/100 which puts it in the top five for the 2016 vintage that I have tasted so far. That's great BUT this will set you back a whopping £1,800 for 12 bottles in bond which is £182.60 per bottle retail. I imagine one could find comparable 2015s for a third of the price.
