Chorey-lès-Beaune 2016, Tollot-Beaut

Tollot-Beaut are one of the standard bearers of Chorey-lès-Beaune despite having a broad range of vineyards in Aloxe, Beaune, Savigny and other villages. Due to the April frost they had to consolidate all of their different Chorey lieux dits into this single offering. The nose is nutty, there is a squeeze of wild strawberry, it is pleasing and open. Good berry fruit, cherries, heat on the finish and a touch chewy. The wine seems a bit disjointed but has the fundamental elements to transform into an enjoyable little number for drinking in 2019 and 2020. A 12 bottle case is £220 in bond which is £24.60 per bottle. Compared to other options, this is reasonable given the underlying quality as it scores 68-72/100. Recommended.
