Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru "Les Fournieres" 2016, Tollot-Beaut

The Aloxe-Corton Les Fournieres vineyard is right next to the houses which make up the hamlet of Aloxe. I presume this means it should be very typical for the village. The nose starts on plum, it's a warm nose but doesn't exhibit any floral notes which other 2016 red Burgundies have already developed. Nevertheless fairly open. Once imbibed there are strawberry, cherry, ripe berry flavours. Finally some good concentration from 2016! It’s actually quite rich and powerful. Likely to be that rare bird: an early-drinking Aloxe. Give it until 2020 and I'm sure this will be complex and enjoyable. Also, it is not heinously expensive: £450 for a case of 12 bottles in bond or £47.60 per bottle in your hand. Scores 75-79/100.
