Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Caillerets" 2015, Paul Pillot
Third wine from the Paul Pillot game tasted at the annual Justerini & Brooks Burgundy tasting. This Chassagne premier cru from the desirable and relatively small Caillerets appellation has an engaging peach and apple blossom nose. Very fine. Lovely texture, elegant, long, ripe citrus, with real finesse. A fine-ness. I really appreciate the ability to combine a tantalisingly ripe yellow fruit nose with a fresher and more uplifting palate. It's not cheap but with this quality it is good value and is better value than equivalent wines from other producers. Scores 85-88/100.
