Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Vergers" 2015, Philippe Colin

This was an intriguing Chassagne premier cru at the annual Justerini & Brooks Burgundy tasting. Reflecting the riper-than-usual vintage the nose offered soft pear and ripe yellow apple aromas. End of summer tree fruit. But also tarragon and daffodils which I found fascinating. Wonderful orange, yellow apple à la James Simpson fruit with a jolly good crystalline quality. Medium plus acidity points this wine towards a good five or more year evolution to the apex of its potential. By Merlin's beard the price is very acceptable! Scores 85-89/100 reflecting an excellent job getting quality from the 2015 vintage.
