Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes" 2008, Patrick Javillier
The first wine of six in a blind tasting that I recently hosted in Puligny. Medium yellow colour showing some evolution. The nose confirms this with aromas of shortbread biscuits, brioche and croissant. The nose evolves to candied orange, its really ripe and rich. There's white honey, white peach and honeysuckle. The fruit combination, honey and butter should give it away as a Meursault. Medium++ body, delightful peach and strawberry flavours. Yet there is underlying minerality which provides a structure and freshness. Think voluptuous with a corset. Finishes on a solid lemon flavour, Excellent wine. A real banker. Scores 27/30 for a Meursault 1er Cru.
