Chassagne-Montrachet "Les Benoîtes" 2013, Jean Chartron

Domaine Jean Chartron is one of the big three producers in the pantheon of Puligny wine-makers. The vineyard holdings are phenomenal and the style is more approachable than the wines of Etienne Sauzet and Domaine Leflaive the other big two in the village. We tasted a bottle of Les Benoîtes 2010 at a wonderful local restaurant called Auberge du Vieux Vigneron just across the road from Puligny. It is favoured by local wine-makers and we happened to meet Jean-Michel Chartron coming out of the kitchen where he eats his dinner! This note is for the 2013 vintage, tasted at the domaine in Puligny. There is a good peach and apricot nose -- typical Chassagne characteristics. It is mineral and fresh on the palate. Very pleasant to drink and a touch plump -- an observation of Ammar Al Gevrey. Promises much enjoyment in 2 years time.
