Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru "Clos du Chapitre" 2012, Génot-Boulanger

This clos is in the centre of the village of Aloxe and the domaine owns a full hectare which always helps with quality since the barrels can be topped up during élevage and a better triage can be undertaken before vinification. With an average age of 45 years, there is no surprise that the strawberry and plum fruit on the nose is ripe. There is an added smoky element likely from the 30% new oak barrels. The pleasing ripeness continues on the palate. Its a full, attractive Aloxe and unlike many foursquare wines from the appellation is already enjoyable. Scores 20/30 for an Aloxe 1er Cru.
