Savigny-lès-Beaune "Les Montchenevoy" 2011, Patrick Javillier

Tasted at the domaine, this Savigny blanc has been a crowd pleaser for quite some years and comes it at an attractive price point. The nose is slightly exotic, reminiscent of herbed potato gnocchi from Pierre & Jean in Chagny, the new bistrot attached to the three star Lameloise. There is yellow courgette, apple, fennel. This nervous chardonnay is mineral, tight, with bright lime flavours. Not sure that this is the vintage I will buy this wine in. Something of an oddity. Scores 20-22/30 for a Savigny blanc. For people keen to visit Burgundy restaurants, the Pierre & Jean bistrot is absolutely superb and excellent value to boot.
