Meursault 2009, Thierry Matrot

For all of you blind-tasters out there, this is your nightmare bottle, a red Meursault. Very little is produced, and you would do well to locate this in Volnay. Because this stunning Meursault rouge 2009 has many of that hallowed village's characteristics. Announcing its intentions with a deep red colour, this pinot beverage from Meursault has ripe cassis and black cherry aromas... a lovely nose. Despite its relative youth, the nose evolves onto acorns, tobacco leaf and chalk. An aromatic profile which would crush a weak-minded blind-taster. The palate is dominated by sweet blueberries, a touch of spice. This Meursault rouge is distinctive, plump and surrounded by soft tannins. Scores 25/30 for a Meursault rouge. Advice appreciated on what the benchmark is!
