Meursault 1er Cru "Les Poruzots" 2011, Comtes Lafon

A group of anonymous American investors recently bought the Domaine Manuel which was up for sale in 2010 and the domaine of Comtes Lafon signed an 18 year lease to manage the vineyards and produce the wine. This is exciting news for fans of the Comtes Lafon style as it adds another hectare of Meursault premier cru to the portfolio. However, the Poruzot vineyards were not farmed according to organic (let alone bio-dynamic) principles so wait for the 2014 vintage for the quality to lift. In this first year the Meursault-Poruzot from Comtes Lafon has an intense lemon nose but that's it folks and it is good but not inspiring on the palate. Scores 20-21/30 for a Meursault premier cru.
