Gevrey-Chambertin 2011, Taupenot-Merme

The second wine tasted at the Domaine Taupenot-Merme which confirmed the strong house-style which favours velvety texture following the glorious Saint-Romain 2011. A deep colour, strawberry, ripe berry nose. Lovely texture, superb berry fruit cylinder. Tangy finish, fully ripe. There is minerality and this wine is showing well. Medium tannins and very pleasant. Will need to taste some older Taupenot-Merme vintages to understand how they age given all the glossy fruit. Scores 24-26/30 for a Gevrey.
