Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Macherelles" 2010, Guy Amiot
Another wine tasted at the domaine with Fabrice Amiot in July 2013, this Macherelles was a another strong proof point for the quality of the domaine's wines. The "Macherelles" lieu dit is on the Puligny side of Chassagne but that does not mean so much in terms of similarity of terroir since their is a whopping great combe between Le Montrachet and the Macherelles. Lemon, orange, floral, intense, long -- the aromas announce a wine with the subtlety of the 2010 vintage and the potential for complexity in 2-3 years time. The "Macherelles" is a flat vineyard with more clay in the soil and the vines are 40 years old. This is full, ripe and rich on the front palate with a stylish mineral finale reflecting the limestone below the clay top soil. Scores 24-26/30 for a Chassagne premier cru.
