Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" 2011, Joseph Drouhin
Mention the Maison Joseph Drouhin and one immediately thinks of the Beaune "Clos des Mouches" blanc. So much so that I thought this is a monopole vineyard although it is not. Over the years the domaine has bought 41 different parcels of the Clos to build up a whopping 14 hectare holding half planted in chardonnay and half in pinot. This young wine is broad and mineral, fresh citrus and apple fruit, a dose of pear and an impressive structure. Tasted at the Justerini & Brooks annual tasting scores 23-26/30 for a Beaune blanc.
