Saint-Romain 2011, Domaine Matrot
Another wine tasted courtesy of the Corney & Barrow annual Burgundy tasting, this Saint-Romain blanc from Domaine Matrot turned out to be a very pleasant little number. Mineral, good weight, lemon, apple, pear, balanced, good freshness on the finish. Surprisingly this "lesser" appellation planted at a higher altitude than Meursault seems to offer more fruit than the focused and mineral dominated Meursault 2011s from the domaine. Scores 20-24 / 30 for a Saint-Romain.
