Meursault 1er Cru "Blagny" 2011, Domaine Matrot

Domaine Matrot own almost 1 hectare of the Blagny 1er Cru lieu dit and the vines are 35 years old. This Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru 2011 starts with a whiff of oak (although there is no new oak used in the vinification), there is tangerine there and a touch of reduction. Displaying 2011 characteristics, this chardonnay offers very fresh citrus fruit, it is slightly resinous, linear, but lacks body, at this stage is almost severe. Unlike the 2010s and 2009s, this 2011 is not very becoming in its youth. Rather prim and proper, even shrewish. Scores 18-23 / 30 for a Meursault 1er Cru. Perhaps like this vineyard snail, the wine needs a long time to move from where it is now.
