Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Champgains" 2004, Guy Amiot

Despite investing a significant amount of time investigating Burgundy wines and tasting on the Cote d'Or, I have not been able to return to this excellent domaine in Chassagne since visiting in 2006. This Chassagne 1er Cru blanc has a pleasant fragrant nose of honeysuckle, lemon pith and melded with daisies and marzipan. There's a hint of white truffle, white chocolate and Mozartkugel. At the peak of its powers on the palate, sophisticated, rich lemon pie, has aged gracefully. Scores 23-24 / 30 for a Chassagne 1er Cru. Compare with Les Caillerets 2004 and Clos Saint Jean 2004.
