Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots" 2006, Robert Chevillon
I have tasted at the Domaine Robert Chevillon in Nuits a couple of times. I won't be going back a third time. Not because the wine isn't good but because M Chevillon simply doesn't really want people to visit and taste his wine. Fair enough. This 2006 premier cru is typical of the vintage: fruity, enjoyable but no real character. A brambley, slightly jammy nose with hints of date and cooked aubergine. Very pleasant. Soft, tender, fruity in the mouth. Fruit breadth but no real structure or length. Enjoyable but certainly not a classic Nuits 1er Cru. Scores 16-18/30 for a Nuits 1er Cru. Photo shows Denis Chevillon looking really bored as a couple of the Burgoblog tasters try some barrel samples. Note that Tom is wearing shades in the cellar which in my opinion is as bad as a man wearing his hat in church.
