Gevrey-Chambertin "Clos du Meix" 2010, Domaine des Varoilles

This was the first wine tasted at the Domaine des Varoilles in Gevrey after we had a no show from the producer at another nameless Gevrey domaine. Ripe black fruits, black berry cassis, round, fruit-driven, soft, good structure, very pleasant. This is an absolutely charming wine and is a barrel sample. The tasting was very good fun complete with two dogs imploring someone to give them a slice of saucisson from a plate on the table. So the question is: will this become more serious as a Gevrey should be? Currently rate as a 20-23 / 30 for a Gevrey appellation. Bodes very well for the 2010 vintage.
