Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2010, Thibault Liger-Belair

Another wine tasted at the domaine in April 2012, this Charmes-Chambertin was a real thriller. Cherry and plum tart, butter, pastry and ripe fruit. Obvious power on the nose but lurking. Aged in just 25% new oak reflecting a similar wine-making style to domaines like Rousseau. At this stage more of a throat wine than a mouth wine. Superb concentration, long, ripe, fresh cherry and raspberry, a great wine. Scores 23-25 / 30  for a Gevrey grand cru. Photo shows the tasters eagerly waiting for the pipette from the barrel.
