Bourgogne Aligoté 2009, Michel Lafarge
For my part, this is one of the truly authentic "old school" Burgundy domaines that makes wines that are not buffeted by fashion. It helps that the wine-makers have a passing resemblance to Gandalf with brings with it expectations of magic and wisdom. This is an Aligoté with few equivalents. The vines are 65 years old. The nose offers cider, apple, pear aromas. This is really rich for an Aligoté and would be a challenge to spot in a blind-tasting which comprised Chablis, Sancerre and Auzey-Duresses. This scores 27/30 for a Bourgogne Aligoté.
