Chambolle-Musigny 2007, Geantet-Pansiot

I last tasted this back in February 2011 and it showed very well then. Surprisingly the Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 from the same domaine was more open and suave. I had hoped to taste at the Geantet-Pansiot domaine in Gevrey in April this year but despite reserving ahead they cancelled last minute! Now that's what I call hospitality... This Chambolle Vieilles Vignes 2007 has a deep plum purple colour, opaque, rich-looking. Floral, delightful, fragrant, vanilla. Raspberry, cassis, inky laced with blood orange. Delicious berry fruit, tangy, a calcaire finish, cherry, even a dash of citrus. Medium to light weight. A finely made wine. Scores 19/30 for the Chambolle-Musigny appellation.
