Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Serpentières" 2008, Patrick Javillier

One could say that Les Serpentières is the most true Savigny 1er cru since it sits on the south-facing slopes above the village and is not just a continuation of the Beaune vineyards. The pinots are now made by Patrick Javillier's daughter Marion who has wine-making experience at Olssens in New Zealand and Scotchman's Hill in Australia. This Savigny has a light to medium red cherry colour. Starting to evolve some red currant coulis aromas. Flavours of fresh red berries, cutting acidity, seems a little bit too sharp. Would be good with steak tartare.
