Meursault-Perrières 1er Cru 2008, Domaine des Comtes Lafon

The final wine tasted at the Domaine des Comtes Lafon, this Meursault-Perrières 2008 is opening up nicely and is in advance of the Meursault-Charmes 2008 just like the vintage from the next year. The honey note on this Perrières is more pronounced and indicates a very small touch of botrytis in the harvested grapes which is at odds with the style of the domaine. From a taster's point of view it is nevertheless very pleasant and something one often associates with fine Meursault. This Meursault-Perrières 2008 has layers of apple, pear, cherry fruit complemented by a wonderfully balanced structure on the palate. Will offer more from 2013 but likely to be at its peak from 2016. Such a shame to drink young and so hard to wait!
