Vosne-Romanée 2009, Sylvain Cathiard

The Sylvain Cathiard domaine is run by Sylvain and his son Sébastien who carefully tend to 5.5 hectares of vineyards which cover Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle. This Vosne 2009 has a distinctive strawberry and cassis nose. A hint of fig creeps into the bouquet reflecting the very ripe 2009 vintage. On the palate this is a ripe Vosne classic: sumptuous, soft, with a velvety finish. A really good Vosne which meets expectations for the terroir. A benchmark to sit alongside the Nuits-Saint-Georges 2009 from Robert Chevillon and the Gevrey 2009 from Drouhin-Laroze.
